Getting Started with Being a Reader and Being a Writer
Professional Learning Sessions
Are you implementing Being a Reader or Being a Writer this coming school year? If so, you’ll want to join us for these professional learning launch sessions!
During these interactive sessions, you’ll learn how to leverage your print and digital program materials, plan for high-quality instruction, and engage in the lessons.

Date: Wednesday, July 16th, 2025
Location: Parkston School, 102C S Chapman Dr, Parkston, South Dakota, 57366
Cost: $25 per session or $50 for the full day. Includes lunch!
Schedule
8–8:30 AM - Registration/Check-In
8:30–11:30 AM - Being a Writer for Grades K–2
11:30 AM–12:30 PM - Lunch and Registration for Afternoon Sessions
12:30–3:30 PM: Choice of sessions: Being a Reader Grades K–2 and Being a Reader 3-5 (these happen concurrently)
Intended Audience: For educators using or planning to implement Being a Reader and/or Being a Writer.
Cost: Each session is $25 per person. Lunch is included.
Payments Accepted: Credit card, e-check, or purchase orders (billing via invoice).
Certificates: Certificates of attendance for three hours of professional learning will be issued to attendees upon session completion.
