► Session 1: Conferring with Writers
Tuesday, October 22, 2024 | 5-6 PM
Writing conferences provide teachers with the opportunity to talk with individual students about their writing, identify areas of strength, and note areas in which a student needs more support. During this session, participants will become familiar with the best practices in conferring with writers to respond to their individual needs.
► Session 2: Assessing Writing
Tuesday, November 19, 2024 | 5-6 PM
During this session, participants will become familiar with the formative and summative assessments teachers use to guide their instruction. They will examine the stages of early writing development and consider how rubrics are used to inform instructional decisions.
► Session 3: Grammar and Conventions Instruction
Tuesday, December 10, 2024 | 5-6 PM
During this session, participants will reflect on challenges they have experienced when helping students use skills and conventions in their writing.
