Event Description

Bringing Writing to Life: Exploring the Research and Practice of Writing Instruction

Please join us for an in-person professional learning experience where we will unpack the research and find out how teaching writing as a separate content area provides a critical pathway for fostering effective communication skills as well as nurturing creativity and critical thinking, which are essential skills for both academic and personal success.

During this institute participants will:

  • Learn to create classrooms where students thrive within a robust community of writers.
  • Explore how to engage students in daily, purposeful writing for genuine audiences.
  • Sharpen their technical skills and develop writing fluency and confidence.
  • Experience, view, and analyze lessons.
  • See the value of connecting reading with writing.
  • Network with other literacy leaders from the region.

You’ll leave well-equipped with professional resources, lesson examples, and checklists that can help you teach writing processes, strategies, grammar, and feedback techniques that match your students’ needs and bring writing to life.

Intended Audience: District and building leaders, instructional coaches, teachers, and invested community members.
