SIPPS: Putting the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy Instructional Tools into Practice

Join us for a quick overview webinar about SIPPS for K–12!

This is an exciting time in education in Minnesota! The MN Department of Education is providing all teachers reading instruction opportunities to learn more about the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. Take your learning to the next level and discover how to put your newly learned tools into action with the
SIPPS.

SIPPS is a differentiated, accelerative, foundational skills program that develops the word-recognition strategies and skills that enable students to become independent, fluent, and confident readers. The SIPPS program identifies phonics gaps and closes them quickly.

SIPPS provides a structured literacy approach to instruction through explicit routines.

SIPPS features:

  • A systematic scope and sequence
  • Differentiated instruction taught in groups of students with similar needs
  • Periodic Mastery Tests to help educators make informed decisions about advancing students or reteaching
  • Research-based instruction aligned with the science of reading
  • Application in reading age-appropriate controlled text that includes recently taught spelling-sounds and high-frequency words
