Evidence-Based Foundational Skills Instruction (K–2)


This professional learning series focuses on research-based strategies for developing the foundational skills that young children need to become proficient and independent readers.

Part 1: Participants will explore instructional activities for shared reading, intentional small-group work, word study, and meaningful independent practice.
 

October 13, 2022 | 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm ET

Part 2: Participants will explore instructional activities for comprehension, vocabulary, and meaningful independent practice.
 


About the Host 




Katharine Bonasera is a Manager of Educational Partnerships with Collaborative Classroom. She has over 14 years of teaching and leadership experience in urban school environments, serving as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. In addition to her school-based experience, she has coached early career Teach For America teachers and serves as an advisor with Relay Graduate School of Education’s National Principals Academy Fellowship. She is passionate about cultivating school environments that foster connection, equitable practices, and the opportunity for all community members to thrive.
