SIPPS Professional Learning Sessions & Courses

Event Description

Join experts from Collaborative Classroom for a unique set of professional learning opportunities for educators implementing the SIPPS program. These virtual sessions are designed to expedite your learning and deliver the critical information you need to implement SIPPS successfully. Registration options include individual 45-minute sessions (30-minute presentations following by a 15-minute Q&A period) or packages. Sessions will be recorded and emailed to registered attendees. 


All sessions are at 1:30pm PT/4:30pm ET and take place on Zoom. Certain combinations of sessions comprise courses that are eligible for a completion certificate:

  • All Program Levels Full Course (8 live sessions + 1 live optional)
  • Beginning Level Teacher Course (4 live sessions + 1 live optional)
  • Extension Level Teacher Short Course (4 live sessions + 1 live optional)
  • Plus Level Teacher Short Course  (4 live sessions + 1 live optional)
  • Challenge Level Teacher Short Course  (4 live sessions + 1 live optional)
Note: Live attendance is required to receive a certificate of completion for courses. You may still register for the course package and receive the recordings if you can't attend live, but you will not receive a certificate of completion unless you attend all designated course sessions live. 
Session Dates and Descriptions 

2/2 - Session 1: Dr. John Shefelbine: In His Own Words - Recording Available at this Link
This unique session will feature the words of Dr. John Shefelbine.  We’ll learn about SIPPS from the researcher, Dr. Shefelbine, who dedicated his work to the development of the SIPPS program designed to support the mastery of foundational skills and developing independent, fluent readers.

2/9 - Session 2: SIPPS for Leaders: Understanding the Elements of Effective Implementation
This session is designed for those who are leading implementations.  We’ll learn more about the program, consider the effective elements of implementation including look-fors and learn how to leverage the learning to support ongoing teacher development.

2/16 - Session 3: SIPPS Essentials: Understanding the Instruction Design and Routines
Learn about the unique instructional design of the SIPPS program to support the mastery of foundational skills for the purpose of developing independent, fluent readers.  We’ll examine the scope and sequence, learn about the predictable lesson structure, and understand the importance of clear, consistent, and concise instructional routines.

2/23 - Session 4: Leveraging Your Learning Portal Digital Resources
This session is focused on leveraging Learning Portal digital resources.  We’ll consider how to leverage the digital resources to support your planning and instruction as well as how to leverage the digital resources for students to access their texts. 

3/2 - Session 5: SIPPS Beginning Level: Instructional Decision-Making
We'll examine the essentials of instructional decision-making in the Beginning Level.  We’ll delve into making SIPPS and intensive instructional decisions using Lesson 28. 

3/9 - Session 6: SIPPS Extension Level: Instructional Decision-Making
We'll examine the essentials of instructional decision-making in the Extension Level.  We’ll delve into making SIPPS and intensive instructional decisions using Lesson 18.

3/16 - Session 7:SIPPS Plus Level: Instructional Decision-Making
We'll examine the essentials of instructional decision-making in the Plus Level. We’ll delve into making SIPPS and intensive instructional decisions using Lesson 32.

3/23 - Session 8: SIPPS Challenge Level: Instructional Decision-Making
We'll examine the essentials of instructional decision-making in Challenge Level. We’ll delve into making SIPPS and intensive instructional decisions using Lesson 28.

3/30- Session 9: Developing Fluent, Independent Readers
Learn how the instructional routines provide opportunities to focus on fluency development.  We’ll focus on three aspects of the SIPPS program (word-level reading, reading a story, and fluency practice) that is intentionally designed to support students to develop as accurate and automatic readers.

$220 |  All Levels Course Package 
Save $20! Includes all nine sessions for one registrant. Certificate of completion eligible for verified live Zoom attendance at designated course sessions. 

$100 | Teacher Level Course Package  
Save $20! Includes five sessions for one registrant. Certificate of completion eligible for verified live Zoom attendance at designated course sessions. 
$30 - Individual Fee-Based Sessions. Price is for Sessions 2 - 9. Session 1 is complimentary. 

$40 | Leader Level Package 
Save $20! Includes three sessions for one registrant. Includes Session 1, Session 2, and a self-selected session. This package also offers leaders the option to purchase two additional sessions. 
Registration Details 
  • Online registration only
  • All major credit cards accepted
  • Purchase Orders accepted for transactions totaling $400+. Registrants must have a purchase order number at the time of online registration. 
  • Groups of teachers can be registered under one purchase order or credit card
  • To register multiple teachers, please add each teacher as an attendee

Refund/Transfer Information

  • No refunds are available for these courses or sessions.
  • Sessions are non-transferable
  • Course registration is per person, individual sessions within a course registration are non-transferable 

Registration Deadlines and Course Attendance Requirements

  • Registration for for individual sessions is open up to one hour before the session start time
  • To receive a course completion certificate, live attendance is required for all designated course sessions. Attendance will be verified via Zoom attendance reports.
  • Course Registration Deadlines:
    • 12:30pm PT/3:30pm on 2/9 - All Program Levels Full Course  (First designated course session is Session 2 on 2/9) - Deadline Passed!
    • 12:30pm PT/3:30pm on 2/16 - Teacher Level Courses (First designated course session is Session 3 on 2/16)
    • You may still register for course packages after the above times/dates and you will receive the recordings for the sessions you aren't able to attend live, but you will not be eligible for a course completion certificate unless you attend all designated course sessions live. 
  • Recordings will be sent to all registrants within five business days after the event concludes.
